Community support and mutual assistance are crucial in lightening the burden and providing temporary relief for cancer patients and caregivers. The Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society (HKACS), led by Chairman Mrs. Patricia Chu, organises gatherings to offer relaxation and mutual encouragement along the challenging cancer journey. Recent events with the theme of Mother’s Day, featured cancer survivors and their children sharing their experiences.

Mrs. Patricia Chu also highlighted the rising number of cancer cases in Hong Kong, with 38,462 reported in 2021, a 12.5% increase from the previous year. To address this, HKACS continues to enhance its cancer prevention, treatment, and care services. Charitable initiatives, including the “Charity Bed Programme” , "Project Wish" fulfilling late-stage patients' wishes, and the Jockey Club Cancer Survivorship Care Project have been introduced to provide counseling service.

The "Prof. H.C. Ho Memorial Medical Assistance Programme" has provided over HK$ 20 million in cash subsidies and over HK$ 500 million in medication support to more than 7,000 cancer patients.

With support from partners like Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation, and dedicated healthcare professionals, HKACS remains committed to accompanying individuals on their cancer journey, fostering hope for recovery.
