Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society to Co-Host World Cancer Congress 2026 with Union for International Cancer Control
Hong Kong, July 5, 2024 – The Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society (HKACS) is thrilled to announce that we have been selected to co-host the prestigious World Cancer Congress (WCC) in 2026. This significant event, co-hosted by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), is set to convene the global cancer community in Hong Kong, bringing together experts, researchers, policymakers, and advocates from around the world to collaborate on advancing cancer control and improving patient outcomes.
WCC is a critical event in the global health sector, dedicated to advancing knowledge and innovations in cancer care, research, and advocacy. Hosted biennially by UICC, the event bridges cultures and generations, providing opportunities for over 3,000 leaders, cancer, health experts and related professionals from 130 countries to build capacities and meaningful connections, exchange knowledge across multidisciplinary areas of cancer control—from prevention and treatment to palliative care—and strengthen cancer prevention and care at global, regional, and national levels. By co-hosting this esteemed congress, HKACS reaffirms its commitment to leading the fight against cancer, both locally and internationally. Our vision is to leverage this platform to inspire and drive meaningful progress in cancer prevention, treatment, and survivorship.
"We are honoured to co-host the WCC in Hong Kong in 2026," said Mrs. Patricia Chu, BBS, Chairman of HKACS. "With Hong Kong’s achievement in cancer research, treatment, supportive services, its ideal location and top-notch facilities, we are dedicated to ensuring the success of this significant event. We are most thankful to the Chief Executive of HKSAR, and the Hong Kong Tourism Board for their full support to make it a reality for WCC to be staged in Hong Kong," added Mrs. Chu.
WCC 2026 will feature a comprehensive programme that includes plenary sessions, workshops, and networking events designed to foster collaboration and innovation. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with leading experts in oncology, explore the latest breakthroughs in cancer research, and discuss strategies for effective cancer control and policy implementation.
“To eliminate the sufferings caused by cancer is our global dream and goal. We believe that WCC 2026 will serve as a catalyst for transformative change in cancer care and prevention by providing a valuable platform to gather top leaders, learn from the best successes, and explore ways to reach these goals," said Prof. Anne Lee, Vice-Chairman of HKACS.
As preparations for WCC 2026 get underway, HKACS looks forward to working closely with UICC and other stakeholders to deliver an impactful and memorable event in Hong Kong. We invite the global cancer community to join us in in shaping the future of cancer care.
